Travel directions

Air Travel

Most delegates will fly into Newcastle International Airport. There are excellent links from the major London airports of Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted, as well as major European airports with international hubs, such as Amsterdam and Paris. The airport has excellent links to the city. The taxi ride takes no more than 30 minutes in rush hour and the city metro system runs from the airport to the Haymarket, Monument or Manors Station near to the University.

Rail Travel

Train links are also excellent with connections on the East Coast mainline from London Kings Cross and York in the south and Edinburgh in the north. Cross-country services also run from Bristol, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds. The Central Station has excellent links to the city. The taxi ride takes no more than 10 minutes in rush hour and the city metro system runs from the Central Station to the Haymarket, Monument or Manors Station near to the University.

Road

Newcastle can also be reached by road from many major airports and cities, via the M1 motorway.

Visitor Parking at City Campus

Visitor parking is very limited on the City Campus, if you do require visitor parking , please email dwdconf@northumbria.ac.uk with your vehicle registration number in order that visitor parking can be confirmed in advance with security. If registration number is unknown because you will be using a hire car, please indicate name of car hire company. Please note that we cannot guarantee visitor parking as this is allocated on a first come first serve basis. The nearest public parking to the conference venue is NCP, John Dobson Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 8HL.

Getting Around

Once you are here the central area is so compact, it is great to walk around or simply jump on the quick and efficient metro system or one of the many buses and taxis.

QuayLink is a new bus service that is easily identified by their distinctive yellow branding. The service links the major transport interchanges of Haymarket, Monument, Gateshead interchange and Central Station with Newcastle Quayside and Gateshead Quays providing an accessible and reliable service for both residence and visitors to the area.
